INSIGHT 100 inc Fall 2007 Conference
Many SL-100s and CS2100s are a part of larger networks that also utilize the Meridian 1/CS1000. Well with the advent of Voice over IP and the evolution of management solutions, Nortel, partners Real Time Monitor and Unique Communications, introduced a solution to make these Meridian 1s andCS1000s Media Gateways.
This Media Gateway 1000 solution allows an end user to maximize the investment that exists in the M1/CS1000 and also to utilize the CS1000 as a survivability intelligence for IP phones when WAN outages occur.
This session will provide an overview of this solution, implementation tips, and management enhancements delivered with our partners Unique Communications and Real Time Monitors.
This is your opportunity to visit the vendor booths and have your individual questions answered, get a one-on-one presentation, or just gather information on new ideas and opportunities. We will also have two booths set up for whiteboard sessions. Would you like the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and have in-depth discussions with Nortel regarding your specific communications needs? Is there a product or feature enhancement that you’ve always wanted to understand? Or would you like more details on the TDM- to-IP Telephony? You’re in luck! Nortel is hosting a separate booth in the exhibit hall where you can “whiteboard” ideas, problems, or solutions with Nortel subject matter experts. Two separate stations will be available on topics such as Troubleshooting, & Problem Solving, Product/Feature Enhancements, and TDM-to-IP Telephony. Meetings with Nortel as these stations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be a booth highlighting the INSIGHT 100 web site. Sign up today to schedule your appointment. Of course all are welcome to actively participate.
8:45 – 9:45

And learn how Nortel will help our customers overcome the challenges they face as communications are transformed by new technologies and user demands.
11:00 - 12:00
Nortel's Hyperconnectivity Solutions for Large Enterprise
The hyperconnected user faces multiple challenges: multiple devices, multiple mailboxes, multiple numbers and names. The result is lost calls, delayed decision-making and dissatisfied customers. Large enterprises today face the challenge and opportunity of a transformation built on solutions like Services Oriented Architecture and Unified Communications. This presentation will discuss Nortel’s Business Optimized Communications strategy to transform the large enterprise.
1:00 - 1:30

Vertical 1 Higher Education
How To Make IT A Revenue Generator On Campus
The growing
number of students on campus with cell phones has impacted the opportunity for
higher education institutions to resell telecom services to students and
generate revenues to offset increasing IT costs. The advent of unified
communications opens up new opportunities for campuses to turn their telecom
infrastructure into a platform of new revenue generating services. This session
will explore some of the value-added services higher education campuses can
consider delivering, leveraging unified communications platforms, including
student collaboration and success solutions, mobility, entertainment and dorm
room services.

Network Management
The days of separate voice and data networks are quickly coming to an end. Our industry is at an inflection point where mission-critical voice services and traditional data services are contending for valuable network resources; and managing these converged networks presents a new set of challenges for administrators. In this session, you will be introduced to some of these challenges and be given helpful information on how to ensure service levels in the next-generation converged network
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a business-driven concept which aims to enable rapid and cost-effective creation/combination and deployment of new applications through significant reuse of existing components and services.
"Communication enablement" of existing and new business applications and processes through SOA is expected to have significant impacts on improving efficiencies and competitiveness for the business.
As a leading supplier of communications networks, Nortel is offering solutions and services to maximize these impacts, leveraging both web-service enablement of existing products as well as introducing a new generation of products and solutions.
This workshop will provide a brief overview of SOA concepts and Web Services, along with examples and will elaborate on Nortel’s SOA strategy for its customers, including SL-100 and CS 2100.
11:15 - 12:15
Asset Tracking/RFID - Approach to RFID Technology
Today's mobility solutions for enterprises are not just about moving data across a network. Wireless networks can provide a number of other services for a range of devices. Technologies abound for identifying and locating devices and/or people. Often times the specific application dictates which technologies are useful and which are not. For example, if you are trying to keep track of medical equipment, GPS is not the best technology to leverage. This presentation will demystify the various approaches and technologies used for location and RFID tagging and will discuss the pros and cons of each.
Survivable Remote - Now
Today’s Survivable Remote Solutions - Remote Survivability is an important customer capability for real-time converged communication. Depending on the number of users at the customer remote site, this will help define the specific Nortel product solution that is required to be deployed.
Survivable Remote product overview solutions being reviewed at high level are:
1) MG 1000B
2) SRG 50 Rel 2.0
3) BSG Rel 1.0
Roadmap
product timelines will be reviewed.
1:15–2:15
WiFi/WiMAXi – Overview and Standards
What is WiMAX and how does this new technology enrich the end user experience? This session will provide an overview of WiMAX, the technology, the standards and the major technology decisions an operator needs to make in deploying a network. The session will also address the different applications that can be delivered and will provide an overview of the end user devices and CPE as well as how this technology will help the enterprise deliver on new business services.
SL-100 Technical Topics
This session will be focused as a refresher on SL-100 Maintenance activities for new technicians and sites who will remain SL-100 for some extended period of time.
We will review MADN rules/limitations and some preventative actions/product changes that would prevent over-provisioning or increase messaging capabilities.
We will also discuss some options for remote access that would increase the connectivity speeds and security (i.e. VPN router).
Survivable Remote - Future
FUTURES IN REMOTE SURVIVABLE SOLUTIONS. As voice is treated like a data center application, the need to provide an always-available service on a network that isn’t necessarily capable of delivering this level of service is more critical. The need for a scalable, manageable, and flexible remote solution is critical to providing this level of service. This presentation will provide a roadmap for the evolution from today’s solutions to enhance the “Business made simple” solution.
2:15 – 3:45
Unified Communications
Unified Communications can play a huge role in increasing contact center agent productivity while increasing customer satisfaction. For example, Agents can use presence to locate expert support staff in real-time which increases first contact resolution rates. The Nortel SIP Contact Center is the engine that drives Unified Communications applications in the Contact Center. Agents are better equipped to handle customer requests and customers are better served resulting in a win-win solution. The Unified Communications in the Contact Center workshop will illustrate the many features and benefits of UC in the Contact Center while explaining the various components to put it all together.

IP TERMINALS PRODUCT ROADMAP
At the request of users, this session will share the terminals strategy for TDM terminals (digital and analog) and provide an extensive IP terminals roadmap for Unistim and SIP.
CS2100 Routine Maintenance
Routine Maintenance has become an area of multiple requests as the CS2100 base continues to expand. This session will cover the recommended regular maintenance activities for the CS2100 Core components. (i.e. all components of the SAM21 shelf, ERS8600, CBM, CMT, Storms, MG15K, MG9K, MG3500, CICM….) The regular maintenance activities include patching, backups, alarm/log reviews via the component log system and IEMS
10:30 – 11:30
Partner Product Update
Partners are critical to the success of an enterprises’ PBX deployment. In an effort to support customers in identifying partners with key capabilities that Nortel has identified as strategies to an enterprise’s success, this session will provide a brief update on key partners. Also during this session we will introduce NetIQ who will provide an overview of their portfolio and strategies being implemented to support the CS 2100. Since this will be in the development stage, both Nortel and NetIQ will be looking for feedback on capabilities and issues that you need help with in your enterprise.

There are a number of ways to represent your organization at INSIGHT 100 inc.
Hosting is a Showcase Opportunity!
You can volunteer to host in your region for the Fall Conference or host the Spring Conference in Richardson at the Renaissance Dallas-Richardson Hotel. The investment of time heralds great dividends for your organization with team bonding, and learning opportunities that heighten professional expertise. You also get prime time to show the membership what makes your site special and the relationship with Nortel takes on a more personal note. It all lends itself to contributing to the success and future of INSIGHT 100 inc.
HOSTING
an INSIGHT 100 inc Conference . . ..
Suggestion: If you are considering the Hosting possibilities why not get on the Conference Committee? This gives you the chance to see conference development from brainstorming to reality and allows a very concrete indication of what’s involved and what’s gained before you make a commitment. Co-Sponsoring is quite viable – whether by region or vertical market, it has been very successful in the past. We would welcome a collaborative Host arrangement whether in Richardson for the Spring or your region in the Fall.
We have a number of past hosts that will be happy to share their experience. If you are interested in hosting or considering the possibilities of volunteering for the Conference Committee, please contact Cheryl Hixon (405) 954-0112.Opportunities for Hosting an INSIGHT 100 inc Conference
The strength of INSIGHT 100 inc is the active members who participate in the monthly conference calls, focus groups, mailing lists, bi-annual conferences and as Board Members, Committee Chairs and Conference Hosts.
The Spring Conference is traditionally held in Richardson, TX in close proximity to Nortel. This has allowed many members of the Nortel team to attend the conference. The Fall Conference is traditionally held in the region where the host organization is located. The actual conference dates in October are determined to avoid the Fall ACUTA conference, accommodate the Host and hotel availability. The Conference Director will furnish the Host Committee with hotel requirements (RFP). Because the host is familiar with the area, the Host investigates and recommends 1 – 3 hotels to be considered as conference hotels. The Conference Director, the Treasurer, a Nortel representative and the Host Committee will make a site visit to select the conference hotel.
Hosting a conference provides a unique opportunity for the Host to showcase their organization, increase their networking opportunities among the membership, enhance their relationship with Nortel and reduce their costs to attend a conference. In the opening ceremonies on Monday morning, the Host introduces their organization to the attendees and showcases the conference theme in a short skit. The Host has contact with every conference attendee at least once ~ processing registration forms, at the registration desk, and throughout the conference. The Conference Host works closely with the Board of Directors and Nortel to select the Conference content. The conference registration fee is waived for all Host members attending their sponsored conference.
INSIGHT 100 inc is responsible for ALL costs associated with the Conference and any meetings pertaining to the conference. For Board meetings, the Conference Director arranges any necessary hotel accommodations and meals; the Treasurer reimburses any travel expenses. The Conference Director is responsible for all arrangements at the Conference Hotel for the conference.
The Host is typically responsible for any travel and accommodation costs associated with the actual conference as well as providing 2 staff for the registration desk, the host ‘apparel’ and the host gift. INSIGHT 100 inc will work with the host to remove any barriers that would prevent the organization from hosting. This could include (but is not limited to) subsidizing accommodation costs, providing staff for the registration desk or additional funds for uniforms. Please discuss your particular needs with the Conference Director.
Please contact the Conference Director if you have any questions or concerns.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE CHARLOTTE AIRPORT
TRANSPORTATION TO & FROM AIRPORT
Excellence Limos
has been recommended as an excellent source of transportation between the airport and hotel.
Contact Information is: mike@excellencelimos.com
(704) 717-9899
website: http://excellencelimos.com
RATES are $10 plus a 20% tip/passenger.
Mike encourages the attendees to contact
him with their flight information and time of arrival. He has limos and
vans available and this information will help him have enough forms of
transportation
available for us. Attendees can also call in advance for reservations.
It has been suggested that a
reasonable wait time for the limos, since they hold 4 people, is 30 minutes.
So…if he only has one or two people in
the limo and 30 minutes goes by, he will still take them to the Hilton Center
City hotel.
