INSIGHT 100 inc Spring 2007 Conference
Nortel and Microsoft have formed the Innovative Communications Alliance
(ICA), which will deliver innovative Unified Communications Solutions and services to accelerate the transformation of voice, video and data communications into a single Unified Communications platform. Join Nortel and Microsoft for their perspective on ICA.
Nortel Product Update
This session will deliver a current and future perspective of the portfolio, addressing software release availability and lifecycle strategy.
This session will deliver a current and future perspective of the portfolio, addressing software release availability and lifecycle strategy for both the SL100 and the CS2100. We will provide more detailed information about SE10 and content being delivered. There will also be more information on the Unified Communications platform capabilities of the CS2100 of the future.
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a business-driven concept that principally aims to enable rapid and cost-effective creation/combination and deployment of new applications, through significant reuse of existing components and services, with high scalability and loose coupling between the components. This workshop will first provide a brief overview of SOA concepts and Web Services along with some examples, followed by a review of key considerations that could determine the speed and extent to which SOA is adopted within an Enterprise.
"Communication enablement" of existing and new business applications and processes through SOA is expected to have significant impacts on improving efficiencies and competitiveness for the business. As a leading supplier of communications networks, Nortel is offering solutions and services to maximize these impacts, leveraging both web-service enablements of existing products, as well as introducing a new generation of products and solutions, which are further optimized to meet the needs of the SOA-based environments. This workshop will cover Nortel's SOA strategy and roadmap for its customers and will elaborate on some of its key components.
This session will be an overview of the Daily/Monthly maintenance activities and utilities for the CS2100. Included will be the setup and activation of NPM (Network Patch Manager) & PRSM (Post Release Software Manager) for Auto Patching, Log Systems and IEMS Alarm Monitoring.
MCS5100 Rel. 3.5
Unified communications is to provide real-time converged communications. Real-time converged communications focus is on enhancing human to human communications. Users have a variety of communications tools available to them and need to be able to choose the right tool for the right task.
The MCS 5100 is a key component of Nortel’s solution for delivering real-time converged communications. The MCS 5100 offers the most complete set of integrated communications tools, with presence being at the core.
MCS5100 Tip and Tricks session will feature a high-level presentation on the installation and commission, upgrades of the system from one release to another, troubleshooting tools, capturing of the logs for each servers and clients, and a look forward to the new features for release 4.0.
This leader-lead session will build on the previous Ethereal Sniffer training from 2005. We will demonstrate how to use Ethereal to troubleshoot various issues within the CS2100, including the insertion of voice problems with and without QoS.
Prerequisite: This session will have limited space, so attendees must pre-register and have the latest version of Ethereal PC for Windows downloaded and installed on their PC prior to attending. Ethereal software can be obtained at http://www.ethereal.com

This session will present some of the architecture in place within Nortel solutions to s! upport security needs. This session will also present a key partner (Sipera) who delivers capabilities to provide additional layers of security especially when planning your networks implementation of a Unified Communications environment.
Presenter: Levine, Blaszak, Block & Boothby, LLP
This workshop will be given by James Blaszak and/or Colleen Boothby of Levine, Blaszak, Block & Boothby, LLP. Jim and/or Colleen will present an update concerning the laws and/or regulations that govern our industry and give a brief update on “hot topics” involving telecommunications that have happened since our INSIGHT100 meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana.

INSIGHT 100 inc Spring 2007 – Messaging Update
At the fall 2006 Insight 100 conference, Nortel provided an overview of its two solutions to the problem posed by the impending end of life of many current and widely deployed voicemail platforms. Those solutions were identified as Nortel Unified Messaging 2000 and Nortel CallPilot. This session will update the Insight 100 membership on the current status and plans for each of these products.
For each product, the current feature set will be reviewed at a high level and a look forward will be presented to new features under consideration for the next release. For UM2000, information will be presented concerning business case considerations when pondering a possible move to a new centralized architecture from a current nodal architecture. For both products a profile of the typical customer will be presented. Finally, a market update will be provided for each product, highlighting current market share, recent wins and any significant success stories that may be sharable at the time of the conference.

This is a building block to a similar session held at the Fall 2006 conference that focused on a Healthcare customer. This session will look at an Education customer.
Although each site's requirements will be different, this session's goal aims to provide a roadmap that will help you to configure your systems and to help you to plan the transition steps. We will use Auburn University to create a roadmap for them and then overview how this roadmap applies to various problems that are common across many sites.
Remote access to the various elements of the CS2100 is critical to ensure optimum system support from Nortel as well as remote connection capabilities for the Site Technicians. This session will present some general models for integrating the Contivity VPN Router into a Customer data network and the remote access requirements for both Technician access and Electronic Patch/Load delivery.

There are a number of ways to represent your organization at INSIGHT 100 inc.
Hosting is a Showcase Opportunity!
You can volunteer to host in your region for the Fall Conference or host the Spring Conference in Richardson at the Renaissance Dallas-Richardson Hotel. The investment of time heralds great dividends for your organization with team bonding, and learning opportunities that heighten professional expertise. You also get prime time to show the membership what makes your site special and the relationship with Nortel takes on a more personal note. It all lends itself to contributing to the success and future of INSIGHT 100 inc.
HOSTING
an INSIGHT 100 inc Conference . . ..
Suggestion: If you are considering the Hosting possibilities why not get on the Conference Committee? This gives you the chance to see conference development from brainstorming to reality and allows a very concrete indication of what’s involved and what’s gained before you make a commitment. Co-Sponsoring is quite viable – whether by region or vertical market, it has been very successful in the past. We would welcome a collaborative Host arrangement whether in Richardson for the Spring or your region in the Fall.
We have a number of past hosts that will be happy to share their experience. If you are interested in hosting or considering the possibilities of volunteering for the Conference Committee, please contact Cheryl Hixon (405) 954-0112.Opportunities for Hosting an INSIGHT 100 inc Conference
The strength of INSIGHT 100 inc is the active members who participate in the monthly conference calls, focus groups, mailing lists, bi-annual conferences and as Board Members, Committee Chairs and Conference Hosts.
The Spring Conference is traditionally held in Richardson, TX in close proximity to Nortel. This has allowed many members of the Nortel team to attend the conference. The Fall Conference is traditionally held in the region where the host organization is located. The actual conference dates in October are determined to avoid the Fall ACUTA conference, accommodate the Host and hotel availability. The Conference Director will furnish the Host Committee with hotel requirements (RFP). Because the host is familiar with the area, the Host investigates and recommends 1 – 3 hotels to be considered as conference hotels. The Conference Director, the Treasurer, a Nortel representative and the Host Committee will make a site visit to select the conference hotel.
Hosting a conference provides a unique opportunity for the Host to showcase their organization, increase their networking opportunities among the membership, enhance their relationship with Nortel and reduce their costs to attend a conference. In the opening ceremonies on Monday morning, the Host introduces their organization to the attendees and showcases the conference theme in a short skit. The Host has contact with every conference attendee at least once ~ processing registration forms, at the registration desk, and throughout the conference. The Conference Host works closely with the Board of Directors and Nortel to select the Conference content. The conference registration fee is waived for all Host members attending their sponsored conference.
INSIGHT 100 inc is responsible for ALL costs associated with the Conference and any meetings pertaining to the conference. For Board meetings, the Conference Director arranges any necessary hotel accommodations and meals; the Treasurer reimburses any travel expenses. The Conference Director is responsible for all arrangements at the Conference Hotel for the conference.
The Host is typically responsible for any travel and accommodation costs associated with the actual conference as well as providing 2 staff for the registration desk, the host ‘apparel’ and the host gift. INSIGHT 100 inc will work with the host to remove any barriers that would prevent the organization from hosting. This could include (but is not limited to) subsidizing accommodation costs, providing staff for the registration desk or additional funds for uniforms. Please discuss your particular needs with the Conference Director.
Please contact the Conference Director if you have any questions or concerns.
